The importance of video is growing rapidly. Smart phones, tablets, SmartTVs, live web streaming, in-car/in-flight entertainment, wearables, virtual reality, gaming – the list goes on, all driving an insatiable demand for content. Business-to-consumer markets tend to pioneer new techniques and devices, but ever more quickly these are taken-up by companies in business-to-business – commercial, construction, engineering and manufacturing.
A time consuming aspect of providing PR services to engineering, construction and technology companies, is the sourcing of high quality visuals – graphics, photographs, video and so on.
Here is a great idea if you want to take your recent company video out on the road – literally! A new service from Gaby, our video production partner, is Elite Digital Advertising – Luton sized vans which can be parked up where you require. On the sides and back panels there are huge flat screens showing your video, advertisement or other promotional messages.
Chris Rand of Business Marketing On-Line and former industrial trade magazine editor, wrote a recent blog where he argued that the company web site should be viewed as a member of the team. The argument went thus: suppose a colleague rings in sick, it’s inconvenient but you can probably share out the work, re-prioritise and find work-arounds. Now suppose the web site goes down, for perhaps just a few hours. This often causes panic, especially if the website is taking orders directly but also because the web site is for most business a vital showcase to the world and acknowledged as the route by which many, if not most, customers will find you.
Like the builder who sometimes doesn’t get to complete their own garden wall, we have been steadily chipping away at creating our new web site over the last twelve months. The development has coincided with a busy time working on fantastic customer projects, so occasionally we have had to down tools and re-focus our attention.
